The Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) has added 535 MW of renewable power from four wind farms in Kansas, Illinois and Iowa. All of the projects began delivery in January.

The four projects are:

• Enel Green Power's 201 MW Caney River wind farm in Kansas;
• NextEra Energy Resources’ 150 MW White Oak Energy Center in Illinois; and
• EDP Renewables North America’s 101 MW Lost Lakes and 83 MW Pioneer Prairie wind farms in Iowa.

TVA now has contracts with five operating wind farms in the Midwest with a combined 542 wind turbines as a result of a 2008 request forproposals for more than 1,500 MW of renewable energy. TVA's total wind energy now activated is 950 MW.

TVA's renewable and clean energy capacity is now more than 5,600 MW, including hydroelectric production at its dams, wind contracts, TVA's Generation Partners and Renewable Standard Offer initiatives, and other TVA-owned wind, solar, landfill methane and biomass generation.
