SEIA merges with solar advocacy group

The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) announced that is has merged with Solar Alliance in order to focus more on state-level policy issues.

As part of the merger, SEIA is establishing a department for state affairs, which is expected to include staff from the Solar Alliance. Current Solar Alliance President Carrie Cullen Hitt will become vice president for state affairs at SEIA.

The Solar Alliance, which has more than three dozen solar companies as members, works with state officials and policymakers to advocate for solar energy.

The merger comes at a time when the solar industry faces an uncertain regulatory and financial environment and competition from countries such as China.
