The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) selected Admiral Robert Willard of the U.S. Navy to be the new president and CEO of the not-for-profit organization, according to World Nuclear News.

Adm. Willard is currently the Commander of U.S. Pacific Command, Camp H.M. Smith in Hawaii. He will join INPO in early April 2012.

The mission of INPO is to promote the highest levels of safety and reliability in the operation of nuclear power plants. The organization was established following the Three Mile Island accident in 1979 to give operators in the U.S. the chance to share experiences and knowledge.
