The proposed $225 million Plainfield biomass power plant obtained financing and an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor to begin construction on the project.
News reports said that Virginia-based Science Applications International Corp. would provide financing and EPC services for the Plainfield Renewable Energy biomass project while The Carlyle Energy Mezzanine Group said it would provide financing for construction.
The Plainfield Renewable Energy biomass project is a planned 37.5 MW plant expected to use wood from construction and demolition debris, recycled wood pallets and land clearing materials. The plant's owners, Enova Energy Group, will sell the output to Connecticut Light & Power under a 15-year power purchase agreement.
Construction is expected to be complete in December 2013.
