The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) is investigating rates charged by three interstate natural gas companies: ANR Storage Co., Bear Creek Storage Co. LLC and MIGC LLC.
FERC is looking into whether the companies are over-recovering their costs. The commission’s staff estimates on Form 2 cost and revenue information that ANR Storage’s return on equity was 130.38 percent for 2009 and 153.71 percent for 2010. Bear Creek’s estimated return for 2009 was 22.43 percent and 29.16 percent for 2010, while MIGC’s estimated return was 47.74 percent for 2009 and 57.14 percent for 2010. In orders dated November 18, FERC gave each company 75 days to file a full cost and revenue study.
