A report claims that making the switch from coal to natural gas would not significantly affect climate change in the U.S.
The study, Coal to Gas: The influence of methane leakage, says that while natural gas-fired generation would emit less carbon dioxide than a coal-fired power plant, it could release more methane into the air but researchers were not sure how much if any. the study also said climate change could be accelerated through 2050 even if no methane leaked from natural gas operations.
