Nuclear power plant orders booked by Flowserve in China

Jul 21, 2011

Flowserve Corp. (NYSE: FLS) won two multimillion dollar orders from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co. Ltd. (CNPEC).

The orders, which were booked in the first quarter of 2011, include main feedwater isolation valves (MFIVs) to be used at two nuclear power facilities in China: Yangjiang Units 3, 4, 5 and 6; and Fangchenggang Units 1 and 2. The 1,000 MW CPR1000 units are scheduled to begin commercial operation between 2015 and 2017.

Flowserve MFIVs are intended to prevent the loss of fluid from main feedwater lines. These gate valves, which have stored energy actuators, are designed to close within three to five seconds.

The valves will be manufactured at Flowserve’s Raleigh, N.C., facility and are scheduled to be delivered between 2012 and 2014.
