A second significant earthquake has hit Japan today, although authorities are reportedly not anticipating significant damage and the risk of another tsunami is low.
Measuring 6 on the Richter Scale this latest earthquake was centred on eastern Japan.
Toyko Electric Power Company (TEPCO), which is battling to prevent a major radiation leak from its Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear complex following Friday’s huge earthquake, has confirmed that all its other power plants are operating normally.
Also NHK has reported that Chubu Electric Power Company has confirmed its Hamaoka nuclear power plant has not been damaged in the latest earthquake.
Reuters have also reported that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that all units at Fukushima Daini, Onagawa and Tokai nuclear plants are in a "safe and stable" condition.
