
8 September 2010-- Portland General Electric Co. said its $1 billion Bigelow Canyon Wind Farm in Oregon is complete.
The project has an installed capacity of 450 MW and uses 217 wind turbines from Siemens and Vestas. It was developed by Orion Energy LLC and is built, owned and operated by PGE.
The wind farm was built in three phases: Phase 1, completed in 2007, is comprised of 76 Vestas wind turbines with an installed capacity of 125 MW. Phase 2 comprises of 65 Siemens wind turbines with an installed capacity of 150 MW. It came into operations in 2009. The final phase used an additional 76 Siemens wind turbines with an installed capacity of 175 MW.
