First Solar buys NextLight Renewables

29 April 2010-- First Solar Inc. and NextLight Renewable Power, LLC signed an agreement for First Solar to acquire NextLight, a developer of utility-scale solar projects in the southwestern United States, for $285 million in cash. The transaction is expected to be complete by the end of 2010 pending certain closing conditions.

The acquisition includes a 1,100 MW solar project pipeline, several power purchase agreements for 570 MW of alternate current power and 530 MW of photovoltaic solar projects in various stages of development.
