17 December 2009-- The California Public Utilities Commission approved Pacific Gas & Electric's (PG&E) contract to buy 48 MW of photovoltaic (PV) solar power from Sempra Generation's Copper Mountain Solar facility.
With the approval, construction on the project will start in January. The project is an expansion of the existing 10 MW El Dorado Solar power plant, near Las Vegas. Both plants will provide power to PG&E under 20-year power purchase agreements.
