16 November 2009-- China-based Suntech Power Holdings Co. Ltd. said it plans to open a photovoltaic (PV) manufacturing plant in Arizona. The plant is expected to have an initial production capacity of 30 MW and production is planned to begin in 2010.

The plant makes Suntech one of the first Chinese renewable development companies to bring manufacturing jobs to the United States. The company picked the Phoenix area because of state renewable energy standards and the state's work with universities.
