24 November 2009-- Duke Energy Indiana said that design modifications for a proposed 630 MW coal-fired plant under construction in Indiana are projected to add approximately $150 million to the project's $2.35 billion cost.

The company filed the information with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission as part of a semi-annual update about the Edwardsport plant's construction. The facility will use integrated gasification combined cycle technology and is expected to be complete by 2012.

Still to be determined are costs related to labor, engineering and plant start-up. State regulators will need to approve any cost increases for construction.
