AE&E Group wins EUR25m coal plant upgrade deal in Bosnia-Herzegovina

27 November 2009 - Austria's AE&E Group has secured an order for modernisation of the Unit 6 steam generator at Bosnia-Herzegovina's Kakanj coal fired power station, 50km north of Sarajevo.

The order, worth EUR25m ($37.5m), was awarded by Elektroprivreda BiH to Czech subsidiary AE&E CZ. Handover is due to take place in 2011.

The contract awarded to AE&E CZ is for upgrading of the boiler plant, including demolition of old plant components and replacement of the control systems. Work will begin immediately.

The comprehensive rehabilitation of this power station unit will extend its working life by 15 years. Recommissioning is scheduled for 2011.
