30 October 2009-- Canadian Hydro Developers said it has terminated a deal to buy a subsidiary of Utah-based Wasatch Wind Inc., which included a proposed 4,400 MW offshore wind project.
Canadian Hydro was acquired by TransAlta for $1.6 billion (US $1.47 billion) in early October. TransAlta decided not to go on with the wind project, according to a release.
The first phase was to have been 400 to 500 MW, with operations expected to begin by 2014.
The acquisition will boost TransAlta's generation from renewable sources to 1,900 MW.
