25 June 2009 -- Pacific Gas and Electric Co. agreed to buy 92 MW of solar power from Alpine SunTower, LLC, a unit of NRG Energy Inc. A solar thermal technology project to supply the power is slated to enter service in 2012.

The project features eSolar's modular, scalable solar thermal technology and will be located near Lancaster, Calif.

The project is part of eSolar and NRG's recently announced plans to develop up to 500 MW of solar thermal power in California and across the Southwestern United States.
