18 June 2009 - In co-operation with European Energy Exchange, the four German transmission system operators EnBW Transportnetze; Transpower Stromubertragungs, formerly E.ON Netz; RWE Transportnetz Strom and Vattenfall Europe Transmission, will establish a platform to publish generation and consumption data to increase transparency of the wholesale electricity market.
In the framework of an experts' working group established at the German Association of Water and Energy Industries (BDEW) transmission system operators (TSOs), the European Energy Exchange (EEX), power plant operators as well as the German Association of the Energy and Power Supply Industry (VIK) and the Association of Local Utilities (VKU) are currently implementing the required preliminary work.
The platform on the website of EEX is expected to be launched during the fourth quarter of 2009 and will be operated by EEX. In this context, all power plant operators and large consumers have been called upon to help make the new transparency platform a success through the submission of their data
The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) has established the scope and form of the data, which will be made available free of charge, in the so-called 'BMWi list' in co-operation with BDEW, VIK and VKU.
Additionally, an experts' working group at BDEW also adopted a resolution for data reported voluntarily to be published on the platform. This reportedly means that the tried and tested structures of the current transparency platform on EEX will be sustained.
