1 April 2009 — Duke Energy is developing the 42 MW Silver Sage Windpower Project in Wyoming. The company signed 20-year power purchase agreements to sell all of the electricity to Cheyenne Light Fuel & Power, a unit of Black Hills Corp., and Colorado-based Platte River Power Authority. Financial details of the deals were not disclosed.
The Silver Sage project will include 20 Suzlon wind turbines, each capable of generating 2.1 MW of electricity. Construction begins this spring and project completion is set for the end of 2009. The project will be Duke's third in the state.
Duke Energy has more than 500 MW of wind-powered generation projects in operation and an additional 5,000 MW in development.
