Alstom to construct combined-cycle power plant for Hc Energia in Spain

5 November 2008 - A consortium led by French power engineering company Alstom has received a full notice to proceed on a turnkey contract by Hc Energia for the construction of a 400 MW combined-cycle power station in Soto de Ribera, Spain.

The turnkey contract was awarded in August 2008 and includes a long-term operation and maintenance contract. The total value of both contracts is €340m ($437m).

Under the terms of the contract, Alstom will supply a fully integrated turnkey power plant, comprising of one KA26-1 single-shaft power train, integrating in-house core plant components consisting of one GT26 gas turbine, one heat recovery steam generator, one STF15c steam turbine and one Topgas turbogenerator.

The new power plant represents the eighth GT26 power station constructed by Alstom in Spain and the fourth with Hc Energia following the Castejon 1&2 and Soto-4 units, signed in 2000, 2005 and 2006, respectively.

The Alstom GT26 combined-cycle power plant fleet in Spain totals 4800 MW with this contract, including 4000 MW already in operation and 400 MW in construction.

Hc Energia is a subsidiary of the EDP-Energias de Portugal group.
