22 September 2008 - Thai utility Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Holding has sold its 15 per cent stake in Siam Ethanol Exports Company to Siam Gas and Petrochemicals for 45m baht ($1.3m) says Reuters.
Thailand's largest private power producer (IPP) said in a statement it had invested in the ethanol maker because it wanted to study the potential of using waste biogas to generate electricity.
However, according to Ratchaburi, it has made the divestment because it decided that the planned biogas power plant project was no longer worth investing in.
Ratchaburi has a generating capacity of 4347 MW, and accounts for approximately 14 per cent of Thailand's current total installed capacity.
