4 February 2008 - Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has received a turnkey order from Dutch utility Nuon for three gas fired combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) units, of 430 MW each, for the 1300 MW Nuon Magnum Plant.
The order marks Nuon's second CCGT plant to MHI following the IJmond blast furnace CCGT unit delivered in 1997. The plant will go on-stream in 2011.
Nuon Magnum will be built in Eemshaven in the province of Groningen, at the northern part of Netherlands. Nuon plans future conversion of the plant to an integrated gasification combined-cycle (IGCC) power plant, adopting gasification technology of coal and biomass.
Each unit will consist of a state-of-the-art M701F4 gas turbine, steam turbine, generator, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and other components (balance of plant: BOP).
MHI will manufacture the gas and steam turbines, as well as procuring HRSG and BOP, and undertaking civil work, installation and commissioning.
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation will manufacture the generators, and Mitsubishi Corporation will cooperate for the trade particulars.
