The Prairie State Energy Campus announced it has entered into an agreement with Southern Illinois Power Cooperative to purchase a 125 MW equity share of Prairie State's planned 1600 MW supercritical coal-fueled power plant project. This announcement comes on the heels of a unanimous opinion by a three-judge panel of the Seventh Circuit of the US Court of Appeals which denied a challenge by several environmental and conservation groups to an air permit issued by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency more than a year ago for the nearly $3 billion Washington County project.
