Framatome ANP buys Cutler-Hammer nuclear segment

28 May 2003 - Framatome ANP, an AREVA and Siemens company, has signed an agreement to purchase Cutler-Hammer's nuclear programs business segment. Located in Warrendale, Pennsylvania, the business segment provides electrical components and related technical support to the nuclear power industry.

The acquisition includes the purchase of assets and a supply agreement that allows Framatome ANP to directly provide certified qualification of Cutler-Hammer electrical products to its nuclear power plant customers. "This acquisition further strengthens our ability to serve our customers with a total package of electrical solutions," said Tom Weir, Framatome ANP Inc. senior vice president, I&C and electrical systems. "We have positioned ourselves to meet the challenges of today's rapidly changing electrical needs in the nuclear power industry."

"This agreement streamlines our ability to deliver high-quality electrical equipment spares to the marketplace through our Nuclear Parts Center," said Sandy Hellman, Framatome ANP Inc. vice president, Nuclear Parts Center. The Nuclear Parts Center has blanket agreements with many U.S. electric utilities to offer spare parts, and other equipment.

Framatome ANP's Electrical Systems organization, coupled with the Nuclear Parts Center, provides nuclear power plants with electrical design services, spare parts, project management, development of system and product specifications, procurement, regulatory support, installation, start-up and maintenance support.
