Alstom wins order to supply air pollution control system in Singapore

27 May 2003 - Alstom's Environmental Control Systems Business has received an order for the supply of electrostatic precipitators (ESP) for an orimulsion fired boiler with a capacity of 750 MW (3 x 250 units).

The order was placed by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (IHI) for installation at the Pulau Seraya power station in Jurong, Singapore. IHI is one of Japan's major boiler suppliers.

Alstom's design for the installation of the ESP for this project includes special features for the Orimulsion-fired boiler process. Alstom is the world leader in precipitator technology, with over 200 000 MW in operation.

The order was gained through a successful reference for the same type of plant delivered in 1997 to Hokkaido Power Corporation.

"The new order shows that our air environmental control systems meet our customers' expectations, and this is borne out by the successful installations we have executed in both Asia and other parts of the world," noted Henrik Maimann, Managing Director of Alstom's Environmental Control Systems Business in the Asia Pacific region.
