ATCO Noise Management wins three U.S. contracts

CALGARY, July 8, 2002 -- ATCO Noise Management LLC, has won three contracts to design and install its silencing systems at energy facilities in the southern United States.

ATCO Noise Management has won contracts for a natural gas storage facility in Lodi, California and two power plants in El Cajon, California, and Morgan Mills, Texas.

For the Lodi project, ATCO Noise Management will design and supply an acoustical compressor building addition for this natural gas storage facility which will have 12 billion cubic feet (Bcf) of working gas storage to supply the California markets.

"ATCO Noise Management President Boris Rassin said, "The Lodi gas storage facility is located in the middle of a wine producing area where the environmental impact of unwanted noise is a significant issue. We are confident we can meet the rigorous noise level targets of 43 (dBA) at 350 feet." (A normal conversation is measured at 60 dBA).

In El Cajon, California, a 50 MW gas-fired peaking plant being built by CalPeak Power of Sacramento is scheduled to come online in mid-July of this year and will supply electric generation to the California grid. ATCO Noise Management will design, manufacture and supply an acoustic barrier wall system around the east and west sides of the property and an air cooling skid featuring a multi-walled barrier with custom silencers for the fan intakes.

Rassin said, "The El Cajon Project is a fast-track project with contractual obligations for supply that must be met by CalPeak. As we have been involved in several similar projects, we are confident of delivering a project that not only meets the noise level targets, but does so within the challenging time frame."

ATCO Noise Management will design, supply and install the acoustical treatment for the compressors, coolers and exhausts of the Devon Gas Compressor Station in Morgan Mills, Texas. ATCO will use its proprietary acoustic wall and roof assemblies for the building's enclosure and a custom design for the radiator intake and exhaust silencers, and the engine exhaust mufflers. "By combining our proven acoustical assemblies with a custom design of critical mechanical components, we are able to ensure that the Devon Gas Compressor Station will meet its noise level target of 43 dBA at 600 feet," added Rassin.

CalPeak Inc. is a San Diego-based subsidiary of D.G. Power and United Technologies.

Lodi Gas Storage is a subsidiary of Western Hub Properties. WHP is owned by an energy partnership managed by Haddington Ventures, LLC of Houston, Texas.

Devon Energy is an Oklahoma City-based independent energy company engaged in oil and gas exploration, production and property acquisitions. Devon ranks among the top five US-based independent oil and gas producers and is included in the S&P 500 Index.

ATCO Noise Management has provided comprehensive noise reduction solutions for over 350 industrial project sites since 1991, earning recognition as a global leader in industrial noise abatement. Headquartered in Calgary, Canada with offices in the United States and the United Kingdom, ATCO Noise Management is a member of the ATCO Group of Companies.

The ATCO Group is a Canadian-based corporation with a worldwide organization of companies engaged in Utilities, Power Generation, Logistics & Energy Services, Technologies and Industrials.
