Rolls Wood Group makes key appointments to enhance US operations

April 5, 2002 -- Industrial gas turbine overhaul company Rolls Wood Group (Repair & Overhauls) USA Inc (RWG USA) has made four key appointments to enhance service and support for its customers.

Leroy Johnson, based at the company's facility in San Leandro, California has been appointed as Senior Vice President, with responsibility for Rolls-Royce industrial aero-derivative 501 and 570 gas turbine maintenance, performed in San Leandro, at the RWG USA branch facility in Houston, and at the new branch facility in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Johnson brings more than 30 years gas turbine industry experience to this new role, and joins from Rolls-Royce Engine Services - Oakland (RRESO) (formerly National Airmotive Corporation) where he was Vice President of the company's industrial 501 and 570 gas turbine program.

RWG USA acquired the 501 and 570 engine lines from RRESO in late 2001, including people, assets, and equipment from the RRESO California facility, as well as the RRESO facility itself located in Sugar Land, Houston.

Hugh Gibson, President of RWG USA, said: "We are delighted to retain Leroy to run our 501 and 570 business, and are confident that he will continue to play an integral role in developing our maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities."

Johnson has previously held sales, marketing and operations management roles with a number of major California-based companies, including National Airmotive Corporation, Aviall, Williams & Lane, and before that, Systron Donner Corporation, where he was involved in NASA projects for an APOLLO mission.

Jeff Stary has joined RWG USA as Vice President, Sales and Marketing, based at the Houston facility.

Stary will manage all sales and marketing activities relating to the 501 and 570 product lines, as well as the day to day operation of the Houston facility, which is instrumental in supporting RWG USA clients in the Gulf of Mexico. Stary has worked with both the 501 and 570 engine types since 1986, firstly at National Airmotive Corporation, where he managed the start up and operation of the Houston facility, then at RRESO.

Former RWG USA Vice President of 501 Sales and Service, Glenn Funaiock, has been appointed as Vice President Regional Sales, based out of his home office in Houston. Funaiock is responsible for domestic USA and international sales, marketing and customer support for the 501 and 570 engines. Funaiock joined Wood Group in 1991 from AAR Corporation in Chicago, Illinios, and before joining RWG USA he spent two years as President of Louisiana-based Wood Group Light Industrial Turbines Inc.

Scott Jessiman has taken up the role of Vice President, Finance and Administration, based in San Leandro. Jessiman is responsible for RWG USA's financial, administration, human resources and materials functions, and joins from RWG in Aberdeen, Scotland, where he spent six years as Accounts Manager.

Hugh Gibson continued: "These appointments reflect Rolls Wood Group's increasing commitment to having the very best people on board, to deliver the highest levels of service to 501 and 570 operators world-wide. These individuals are all valuable assets to the company, and will make a significant contribution to the continued growth of our US business."
